Volunteer Centre Purpose and Recruitment

Purpose

The Centre operates to coordinate and develop the activities of around 100 community volunteers. The Centre is responsible for the recruitment, training, placement and support of the volunteers.

The volunteers themselves are able to expand their interests and skills, to make new friends, to help other people and the community at large and hopefully to find enjoyment and fulfillment in the process.

Some volunteers are placed with established voluntary groups while others stay under the direct control of the Centre, providing services on projects which are managed by the Centre. Managed services include the provision of low cost transport for people or groups with special needs.

Recruitment

There is always a need for additional volunteers, so please contact the Centre for more information if you may be able to help. The following activities are worthy of particular attention:
  • Broughton Astley Toy Library
  • Car owners taking the elderly on short trips
  • Befriending and visiting of housebound people
  • And more drivers are needed for the community buses.
